If you have been following our rare book auction this week for the POLE (Politics of Limited Editions) booklet signed by Stephen King, here is a quick update.
We just posted a new email letter dating back to March 1999 that Audrey Whelan sent to the current owner. In the letter, she refers to the nature of the book and how it came to exist.
A bit of a back story -
The current owner met with Michael [Whelan] and Audrey to consult with Michael on a personal private matter and subsequently sent some artwork he had of Michael’s work to be framed by Audrey.
When she shipped the framed artwork back to him, she included the booklet as a thank you gift. The owner was so thrilled that he even saved this email, which is now posted on our auction page.
Please note that portions of the letter have been redacted due to personal information. As mentioned earlier, the owner has kept this book for over 20 years, and had no idea of its worth.
