So how do you know it's real?



One simple way is to make sure that it is "period correct", by comparing it to known genuine examples from the same time period.

The signature of an author changes over time. An autograph from 1980 may look entirely different as compared to one from 2010.


So that's why I put together this handy autograph reference chart that displays King's autograph over the years and decades.


For example, if you find an autograph in a book published after 2000,
and it resembles one indicative of the 1980s,. then this is a tell-tale indication that it might be forged, and it should be highly suspect.

signed limited editions. You can compare yours to these charts.

By the way, you never have to question the signature authenticity of a publisher issued signed limited, or signed lettered edition. Unless otherwise noted as a "facsimile" autograph (yes, some publishers produce these - not sure why though) , rest assured that they are real.
